In June 2024, TECSES began its work to support the pedagogical skills of Nepali teachers. As the project marks its one-year anniversary, our Chief Technical Advisor, Eija-Riitta Kinnunen, shares her thoughts on the changing role of schools and teacher education.
TECSES is expanding its activities in Nepal. As part of this expansion, we are looking for new team members to support teacher education in Madhesh and Sudurpashchim Provinces.
The TECSES team recently carried out a field visit to Kalikot, Jumla, and Mugu districts in Karnali Province. The Embassy of Finland also visited the TECSES office in Karnali and met with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Education Development Directorate, Mid-West University, and the Education Training Centre.
As the CEO of HY+ – the University of Helsinki Centre for Continuing Education – it’s a real pleasure to visit Nepal for the first time. What stood out the most to me? The diversity of the Nepali people and the warm hospitality everywhere I’ve gone. And yes, the momos really are as good as everyone says!
On May 13th, 2025, TECSES organized a training on teacher performance evaluation in Karnali Province, bringing together key education actors from the Ministry of Social Development, Education Development and Coordination Units (EDCUs), Local Education Units (LEUs), and head teachers.
