Integrated Curriculum training helps teachers strengthen classroom practices

Teachers play a key role in helping children build a strong foundation for learning. TECSES supports Integrated Curriculum training implemented by Provincial Education Training Centres in Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The training helps teachers strengthen their understanding of the Integrated Curriculum for Grades 1-3 and develop practical skills for the classroom. Participants learn how to design integrated lesson plans based on themes and learning outcomes, use child-friendly and participatory teaching methods, assess student learning through competency-based approaches, promote inclusive teaching practices, and make use of locally available learning materials.
Teachers who participated in the training in Madhesh Province shared how they plan to apply what they learned in their own classrooms.
Siphal Kumari Yadav, a teacher at Shree Ristriya Basic School in Bariyapatti, believes the training will have a positive impact on students.
"We learnt on providing excellent education and increasing learning capabilities of students. When we implement these learnings in schools, kids will learn in a fun and exciting way, and they will not drop out of school."
Ram Kumar Hamal, a teacher at Shree Janta Secondary School in Bariyapatti, highlighted the practical value of the training.
"We have realised that this training is a must-have training for all teachers."
He also explained how he plans to use the new approaches in his teaching.
"The skills that we learnt in this training will be used when we go back to school. We will integrate games and education materials to make learning more fun in the classroom."
For Sanjit Kumar Mandal from Shree Basic School Tuwapatti, the training provided new ideas for responding to the different learning needs of students.
"Now when I go back to the classroom, I will implement my learnings and I believe other teachers will do the same."
He added:
"I’m very inspired by the 5-day-long training supported by TECSES. There are different kinds of students in classrooms, and they have different learning capacities. By understanding Integrated Curriculum and implementing that in the teaching process, we can mazimise learning capabilities of students of various nature."
By strengthening teachers' skills and confidence, the Integrated Curriculum training supports more engaging, inclusive and effective teaching practices in classrooms. Through its collaboration with Provincial Education Training Centres, TECSES continues to support teachers across Nepal in creating better learning opportunities for every child.
